Technical Requirements for Online MEDYSP

To ensure that each student has the best experience, we recommend the following technical requirements.

  1. An email address belonging to the student (not the parent).
    • Your email address will give you access to UofT’s Learning Management System (LMS) and third-party software.
  2. Laptop or desktop computer
    • Windows (64bit) or macOS
    • Microphone (required) and webcam (optional but recommended)
    • 4 GB RAM or more
  3. Browser (latest versions of Chrome and Firefox)
    • Please install both before the start of the program.
  4. Zoom conferencing software, visit zoom.us to download and install for free.
  5. Java (latest version)
  6. Access to a printer
  7. Stable connection to the internet (25 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up)
  8. VPN connection for international students (optional).
    • In order to provide access to University of Toronto (U of T) online resources for students and others residing in China, students will need to use a VPN provider.

What’s not supported:

  1. Mobile devices (smartphones, tablets)
  2. Chromebooks

Will you be accessing our online program from mainland China?

The Alibaba Cloud Enterprise Network (CEN) Service for students in China provides a lower latency connection to U of T services for students connecting from mainland China. Please visit this site on how to setup and connect using your utorID.

How to join live teaching sessions?

  1. Three (3) days before the start of each module you will receive login information (utorID and password) to UofT’s Learning Management System which is called Quercus.
  2. Once you login you, introduce yourself to your peers and team using the welcome forum.
  3. Check Quercus 3 days before as your instructors will post Zoom meeting details.
